Terms & Conditions of Sale

Please read these terms carefully before placing an order. They set out your rights and ours, and explain how to get help if something goes wrong.

1. About us

These terms apply to the sale of products by SCREWFIX DIRECT LIMITED Company number 03006378 (company number 14541300, registered in England and Wales), whose registered office is at Trade House Mead Avenue, Houndstone Business Park, Yeovil, Somerset, BA22 8RT. • Online: our contact form

If we need to contact you, we will use the email address or telephone number you gave us when you ordered.

2. These terms

These terms apply to every order placed through our website. If you are a consumer (buying wholly or mainly for purposes outside your trade, business, craft or profession) you have legal rights that these terms do not affect. Some clauses apply differently to business customers, as indicated below. Trade account customers are also subject to our trade terms of business, which take precedence where they conflict.

3. Products

Product images are computer-generated or photographed representations and are for illustration only; colours and details may vary slightly. Packaging may differ from that shown. Dimensions, weights and capacities are given as accurately as possible but may vary within normal manufacturing tolerances.

You are responsible for choosing products suitable for your purpose and for using them in line with the manufacturer's instructions and safety guidance. Lifting equipment must never be used to support a vehicle while someone works beneath it unless the product is specifically designed for that purpose.

4. Placing an order and contract formation

When you press Buy now you are taken to a secure checkout hosted by our payment provider, Stripe. Before you pay you will be able to check your order, the total price including VAT and delivery, and correct any errors.

Your order is an offer to buy. A contract is formed when we email you an order confirmation. We may decline an order — for example if a product is unavailable, we cannot deliver to your address, or there is an obvious pricing error — in which case we will tell you and refund any payment in full.

5. Prices and payment

Prices are in pounds sterling (GBP) and include VAT at the current rate. Delivery charges are shown before you pay. If the VAT rate changes between your order and delivery we will adjust the VAT you pay unless you have already paid in full.

If a product's price is clearly and obviously wrong we are not obliged to supply at that price, and we will contact you before accepting the order. Payment is taken in full at checkout. See our payment policy.

6. Delivery

We deliver to addresses in the United Kingdom. Estimated delivery times and charges are set out in our delivery policy. If our supply is delayed by an event outside our control we will contact you as soon as possible and take steps to minimise the effect. If the delay is significant you may contact us to end the contract and receive a refund for products not yet received.

Products are your responsibility from the time they are delivered to the address you gave us. You own them once we have received payment in full.

7. Your right to cancel (consumers)

Under the Consumer Contracts (Information, Cancellation and Additional Charges) Regulations 2013 you may cancel your contract within 14 days of the day after you receive the products, without giving a reason. We extend this to 30 days for unused products in their original packaging.

To cancel, tell us clearly by email or post (you may use the model cancellation form below, but you do not have to). You must then return the products within 14 days of telling us. Unless the product is faulty or misdescribed, you pay the cost of return.

We will refund the price paid and the standard delivery charge within 14 days of receiving the products back (or evidence that you have returned them). We may reduce the refund to reflect any diminished value caused by handling beyond what is necessary to establish the nature, characteristics and functioning of the products.

8. Faulty or misdescribed products

We are under a legal duty to supply products that are of satisfactory quality, fit for purpose and as described. Under the Consumer Rights Act 2015:

  • up to 30 days after delivery: if your goods are faulty, you can get an immediate refund;
  • up to six months: if your goods cannot be repaired or replaced, you are entitled to a full refund in most cases;
  • up to six years: if your goods do not last a reasonable length of time you may be entitled to some money back.

This summary is not a full statement of your rights. For detailed information visit Citizens Advice or call 0808 223 1133. Our 2-year warranty is in addition to these rights.

9. Our liability

Consumers: if we fail to comply with these terms we are responsible for loss or damage you suffer that is a foreseeable result of our breach or our failure to use reasonable care and skill. We do not exclude or limit our liability where it would be unlawful to do so, including for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or for breach of your statutory rights. We supply products for domestic and private use; if you use them for any commercial purpose we have no liability to you for loss of profit, business, business interruption or business opportunity.

Business customers: the implied terms of the Sale of Goods Act 1979 as to title are not excluded; to the extent permitted by law all other implied terms are excluded. Our total liability arising under or in connection with any contract is limited to the price paid for the relevant products, and we are not liable for any indirect or consequential loss, or loss of profit, revenue or business.

10. Your personal data

We use your personal data as described in our privacy policy.

11. Complaints and disputes

If you have a complaint, please contact us — we aim to acknowledge complaints within two working days and resolve them within 14 days. If we cannot resolve a complaint, you may refer it to an alternative dispute resolution provider, or seek independent advice from Citizens Advice.

12. Governing law

These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales. If you are a consumer you may bring proceedings in the courts of England and Wales, Scotland or Northern Ireland depending on where you live, and you will benefit from any mandatory provisions of the law of the country in which you are resident. Business customers agree to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.

We may amend these terms from time to time; the version in force when you place your order will apply. If any provision is found to be unenforceable, the remaining provisions remain in full force.
